The purpose of this blog is to look at the campaigns and the intersection of between campaigns and the internet. The use of the internet and social media within campaigns is still a nascient. Although the comfort level of companies and organisations is growing the pool of tools being used is relatively limited.
Although the use of the internet is widely reported in the media it often paints a limited picture of what is actually going on. Who the key players are behind the scenes, where the interesting platforms are coming from and what is going on at the cutting edge falls by the wayside. Too often the stories which are reported focus on the latest fad, not the more innovative ideas. I intend to dig below the surface and get to what is really going on in the world of online campaigning.
Clearly it would be foolish to look at online campaigning without looking also at offline campaigning and I will, as a matter of course, look at what I consider to be the best campaigns of the moment. There will also be regular updates on the latest literature on the topic in the form of book reviews.
This blog is intended to inform, and hopefully provoke debate on one of the key issues faced in modern campaigning. How are we to reach people and motivate them?
